Job Summary

Summary: The Nuance OEM Imaging Sales Engineer works along side regional sales reps on various aspects of the sales process and provides technical assistance and expertise to move the sales cycle to a close. The OEM Sales Engineer assists developers and OEM partners with product and industry knowledge enabling them to more effectively utilize Nuance Document Imaging products, adding value to their offerings  

 

Responsibilities:

•Works deals assigned to the supported sales team, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit as directed by the Alliance Manger or Sales Manager. Prepares proposals, presentations, handling technical Q&A, performing product demo to the partners, release products to customers.
•Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address partners or their customer requirements and recommends solutions that optimize value and cost for both customers and Nuance. May be required to understand customers/partners product lines which compose the technical solutions.
•Acts as the first-line technical contact for the partners. Secures customer’s buy-in of Nuance product lines and becomes a trusted technical partner.
•Meets profitable sales growth targets in assigned product lines, partners, channel, and market areas.
•Pursues additional business development opportunities within customers, partners and channels. Collaborates with Sales to ensure these opportunities are effectively covered.
•Monitors customer support for technical solutions throughout the sales process, and alerts Sales to potential risk.
•Work with customers who are evaluating the OmniPage SDK, providing them design assistance, tips, and tricks to best utilize the SDK based on their use case or application.
•Position OmniPage SDK against our competition by understanding the benefits of OP relative to competitive solutions. This requires an understanding of competitive product and what is important ot developers.
•Create sample code and reusable knowledge base items for developer re-use.
•Maintain communication with people at all levels internally as well as with customers/partners, ensuring the proper and current flow of technical information from and to the account.
•Provide feedback to the Product Management organization within Marketing and/or R&D on the technical requirements in the market and application ideas.
•Collaboration in the preparation and delivery of technical partner/customer training

 

Qualifications

Number of Years of Work Experience: 3 years minimum in IT solution delivery experiences

  • English communication: Fluent English and Japanese communication
  • Project Management: Thinks through projects before beginning, considers short and long term goals, plans effective sales approaches and tactics, and acts in a structured and logical way in servicing accounts. Prioritizes effectively and manages multiple projects and sales opportunities simultaneously in a highly organized and deadline driven manner. Ensures objectives, contingencies and timelines are clear to the sales team, holds effective meetings and escalates appropriately to ensure project goal is met. Monitors and communicates progress. Anticipates challenges and is prepared to address them. 
  • Strategic Approach: Understands sales cycle and strategies. Gives valuable input to constantly improve sales strategy. Actively implements and supports approach and processes as defined by sales management
  • Customer Relations: Effectively articulate and present technical information, primarily in pre-sales capacity, and in a post-sales capacity as needed, across a variety of audiences with different levels of technical expertise. Makes presentations and communicates effectively to customers inside and outside the organization using a variety of mediums, including webinars, conference calls, emails, etc. Shares knowledge and makes use of the expertise within the company to help meet overall objectives. Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with external customers.
  • Experience with software development, optical character recognition, data transmission protocols, document management/handling tools, PDF technologies, desktop and server operating systems focusing on printer and driver installation, varied scanning devices.
  • Customer Focus: Superior customer interface, telephone, and email etiquette skills. Knows when to escalate issues to Nuance or client management as appropriate for the situation. Accountable for following through to full and complete resolution. Ability to remain calm under pressure and cope/ react appropriately in a fast moving, constantly changing work environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Planning, time and priority management skills are critical.

  • MFP embedded platform for Security, Web Services/Java, Print and ScanProgramming: Experience with C++ and C#
  • Web Scripting: Knowledge of XML, HTML, and Internet protocols and security. 
  • Systems & Data Networking: Experience with scaling server hardware, LAN/WAN networking bandwidth calculations, Windows operating systems, SQL, virtualization, database clustering, Single sign on (SSO), application and server security. 
  • Familiarity with embedded hardware and software technology and architecture (processors, platforms, etc.). General embedded operating system knowledge (e.g. Windows, Embedded, Microsoft Office - Strong proficiency in Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Outlook / Linux / iOS / Android / Macintosh )
  • Project Scoping: Experience responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), providing input on scoping and estimating time/resources and providing quotes for the project’s technical requirements.
