Job Summary



Nuance is the worldwide market leader in clinical documentation systems and speech recognition solutions. Solutions such as Dragon medical help clinicians every day to increase productivity and create medical notes. Nuance SpeechMagic product line is used by thousands of radiologists and is integrated the leading PACS and RIS systems.

To strengthen our leadership position in Germany, Nuance is recruiting a Chief medical Information Officer (CMIO) for Germany, Switzerland and Austria (DACH). This person will be the key liaison between Nuance and the hospital CMIO’s in DACH. The Nuance CMIO is an advocate of the Nuance products in hospitals, industry and governmental organizations.


Purpose of position:

  • Build C-level relationships with DACH hospital leadership, especially CMIO’s.
  • Be Nuance representative in DACH Governmental and industry Healthcare IT communities, commissions, initiatives
  • Support Sales team with focussing on value and benefits Nuance products
  • Increase partner and customer loyalty to Nuance
  • Be an advisor within Nuance with clinical knowledge for marketing team, product management, product development, ….
  • Expand our market reach among clinicians and over time enlarge the current known use cases (e.g. value propositions to a larger market – nurses, coding)

Main tasks:

  • Drive clinical pull among Physicians and nurses for using Nuance Speech recognition as primary method for clinical documentation, primarily at the point of care. This shall indirectly and over time reduce price pressure as physicians want Nuance for clinical reasons.
  • Participate and lead selected business development projects. Work closely with sales/presales/marketing/product management, selected partners and end sites, where Bjoern manages contracts/direct negotiations either direct or with partner management.
  • Speaker at partner user groups and clinical sessions at key exhibitions in Dach.
  • Lead Nuance Dach regional advisory board, for which mainly should be represented by physicians, creating customer loyalty and enhances our market position.
  • Provide valuable clinical and user feedback for future product enhancements and roadmap

Skills and experience required :

  • Practice as an MD in German hospitals for minimum 3 years - an additional degree either from business management or technology considered an asset.
  • Preferably is or has been practicing outside pf radiology & pathology
  • Proven background from implementing and using HEALTHCARE IT solutions & projects  in one or more German hospitals
  • Strong interest in deploying new & proven HEALTHCARE IT inside hospitals
  • Fluent in German and English. Excellent speaker/presentation skills
  • Team player capable of leading & managing others in a project and/or matrix organization.
  • Preferred customer background should be hospital IT sales as well as solution selling.
  • Working experience between HEALTHCARE IT projects and hospital would be an advantage
