Job Summary

    • The successful candidate will have a strong background in administrating and maintaining the HP uCMDB CMDB software.
    • The successful candidate will have experience configuring and troubleshooting HP Universal Discovery.
    • The successful candidate will have strong Linux or UNIX system administration skills.
    • The successful candidate will have some scripting experience and skills in at least one language.

The candidate will engage in technically challenging work across multiple initiatives.  This work will involve HP uCMDB tasks and may also involve some System Administration tasks, scripting tasks, automation tasks, and monitoring tasks.  The candidate will work collaboratively within DevOps and with others across Nuance.

 

Responsibilities:

    • Work with the Nuance configuration manager to perform technical and administrative tasks on HP’s uCMDB software.
    • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot HP’s Universal Discovery software.
    • Identify areas of technical risk or improvement in Nuance’s current HP uCMDB and Universal Discovery deployment.
    • Migrate DA operation at HP Cloud to Azure Government.
    • Oversee DA operations.
    • Assist other DevOps team members with sustaining work in our automation infrastructure and with our automation tool stack.
    • Assist other DevOps team members with sustaining work in our monitoring infrastructure and with our monitoring tool stack.
    • Working with other team members on complex tasks across a range of environments and technologies

Skills and Qualifications:

    • 2+ years administering HP uCMDB and Universal Discovery
    • 2+ years of Linux system administration experience
    • 1+ years of scripting experience in one or more languages
    • Understanding of network technologies such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
    • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to perform well in a dynamic environment, with on-time delivery
    • Ability to learn new technologies and environments quickly
    • Ability to engage in multiple projects at the same time
    • Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills 

Number of Years of Work Experience: 10 - 15 Years

 

Required Skills:

    • 2+ years administering HP uCMDB and Universal Discovery
    • 2+ years of Linux System Administration experience
    • Windows System Administration experience is a plus
    • 1+ years of scripting experience in one or more languages
    • Python is a plus

Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with, or understanding of, supporting SaaS offerings
    • Experience supporting production environments
    • Experience with automation technologies such as: HP SA, Puppet, Chef, cFengine
    • Experience with monitoring technologies such as: Nagios, Zenoss, Hyperic HQ, etc.
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Attention to detail and focus on quality
    • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with both technical and non-technical staff
    • Ability to act decisively and works well under pressure
    • Knowledge and understanding of ITIL or similar IT Service Management framework

Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Required)
    • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Preferred)
