Summary: The position involves the research and development of advanced computer vision techniques for biometric recognition and identity retrieval. The main contributions and outcomes are expected in the fields of lips reading, face recognition, facial features detection and tracking. The developed computer vision methods will be used in combination with voice biometric techniques for increasing the security and the convenience of automatic authentication applications. It is worth highlighting that this position requires important development and finalization skills, besides research aptitudes. The final goal is to create software libraries / SDKs that offer high accuracy with reasonable computational and memory requirements and are, at the same time, easy to integrate and deploy in server and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities: The ideal candidate should have meaningful experience with computer vision techniques and good knowledge of the scientific literature and open source environments (OpenCV, Dlib, …) , in particular on the field of object detection and tracking. Proficiency with machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms is a must. Very good knowledge of C/C++ and Windows and Linux OSs is required, as well as the familiarity with at least one machine learning programming language (Python, Matlab, R, … ). The proposed position will require significant experimental activity and the capability of developing fast prototypes for assessing research ideas and algorithms is very important. Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.
This position also requires good social skills and the capability to cooperate with a geographically distributed team.
