Big Data Architect/Principal JAVA Engineer

Summary: The Data Architect will be responsible for technical leadership, design, implementation, maintenance, and support of an enterprise-grade data warehousing solution utilizing Big Data technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Must have proven ability to design, highly-scalable, highly-available big data systems, provide technical leadership to other team members, interact effectively with product owners and executives, and contribute significantly to hands-on implementation. 
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, both technical and business/product oriented.
• The position will have ongoing operational responsibilities for maintaining a mission-critical system.

Qualifications

Number of Years of Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years professional experience with 3+ in Big Data. Prefer 10 years professional experience with 5+ in Big Data

Required Skills:

• Must have designed and implemented a large-scale big data solution that was successfully delivered to production.
• Must currenly be proficient in and have 5+ years professional experience with Java 
• Must have a working knowledge of Linux
• Must have significant exposure to a broad set of big data technologies (see list below)

Preferred Skills: Hadoop, Google Cloud Dataproc, HBase, Solr, Elastic Search, MongoDB or other document stores, Kafka, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Storm, Spark, Beam or other real-time processing engines, Redis or other distributed caches, SQL, OLAP/OLTP

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent Experience
