Job Summary

Exciting opportunity to be involved in improving the quality of our releases towards strategic customer accounts and Software Development Kit deliveries. The technology you will work on is deployed in the majority of cars and speech-enabled mobile devices on the market today, and is used by global enterprises and healthcare providers. The team is International located around the world in Belgium, Germany, Italy, India, China, US.  

 

We are looking for a release and quality engineer with strong background in complex software products. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing improvements around the delivery and quality processes. An eye for automation and optimal execution is key as there is a large set of “voices” that has to be delivered. Strong methodological skills and an interest in process design are a must. You will be working with the software and “lingware” teams to optimize the deliveries and make use of cost effective resources to make things happen.

This Position can be based in any of the following locations:  Aachen, Germany or Turin, Italy or Merelbeke, Belgium  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work together with software and “lingware” teams to streamline the quality and release processes. These processes inlcude testing, releasing, issue tracking, etc.
  • Propose changes and additions to the processes and implement the proposed changes once agreed.
  • Support the teams in automating the different steps in the process where needed.
  • Define and execute tests on the final deliveries.
  • Support the teams uncovering quality gaps and defining appropriate actions
  • Document and communicate release and quality processes to internal and external customers.
  • Define and propose metrics for measuring progress on quality and report on those metrics.

 

 

Required Skills:

  • The successful candidate is a team player and a fast learner with an analytical mindset and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience in a software quality, testing, release engineering or related roles with strong bias for processes and quality.
  • Experience with continuous integration and/or continuous delivery processes.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Knowledge of different hardware and operating systems (Windows, Linux, OSX, Android, etc.)
  • Experience with Jenkins CI Platform, ideally using Pipeline-as-Code concepts
  • Ability to work in distributed teams
  • Positive "can-do" attitude, well organized, focusing on achieving results cost effectively.
  • Eye for detail and focus on the quality of the product.
  • Customer Service attitude, good presentation and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to handle occasional peak demands.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for short trips.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of embedded software programming in C or C++.
  • Project management
  • Process design
  • Knowledge of VMWare ESXi or similar
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automations tools such as Salt or Chef
  • Knowledge of Docker
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Mercurial, Git, SVN).
  • Experience with issue tracking databases (e.g. Fogbugz, Jira)
  • Experience with requirements tracking tools.
  • Experience with speech synthesis (TTS), automatic speech recognition (ASR), natural language understanding (NLU).

 

Education: MSc in computer science, or equivalent
