Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Accounts Payable Manager, the Senior Accounts Payable Lead supports the Accounts Payable Manager in the management of the Accounts Payable Staff and the full cycle of Accounts Payable activities. The Senior Accounts Payable Lead must project a professional company image through in-person, phone and e-mail interaction.   

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and support to new and existing staff (Corporate and offshore team) as needed.
  • Assist AP Manager with analyzing and verifying accuracy of reconciliations.
  • Prepare reporting for use in financial analysis / key performance indicators
  • Research and resolve common and complex Accounts Payable errors or problems.
  • Provides a first level of escalation for complex questions and resolution of issues relating to vendor disbursements, invoices, and expense reimbursements.
  • Facilitates communication among Finance departments and between functional departments and Payables team.
  • Monthly reconciliation and review of credit card payments.  
  • Provide customer service and training for Expense reimbursements
  • Ensure all financial Accounts Payable deadlines are met for month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closings. This includes the ability to be flexible with your schedule as necessary to meet deadlines or deliverables as assigned.
  • Support requests for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain excellent vendor relationships.
  • Lead continuous business improvement efforts, projects and initiatives to result in ongoing incremental gains in quality and efficiency.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable Manager to develop, establish, monitor and measure systems and procedures to improve accounts payable efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide coverage for staff when they are out of the office.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Number of Years of Work Experience: 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of related experience in a complex, large corporate AP environment
  • 1+ year of process management experience

Required Skills: (ADVANCE EXCEL A MUST)

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel (advanced level) and ERP systems (Oracle R12 preferred) required. 
  • Ability to be a participating member in a cooperative work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities, in a diverse environment.
  • Experience and understanding of accounting concepts

Preferred Skills: Oracle R12 Financials and Discoverer Reporting Tool experience

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
