Job Summary

Nuance Communications is an US technology company with many European offices, including offices in Dublin and the greater London area (Marlow or Twickenham).  Due to a maternity leave in our European Legal Team we are looking for a temporary Legal Counsel. 

 

You will be part of a multi-national global legal team in an exciting, fast paced, innovative and dynamic environment. Your focus will be on supporting sales transactions involving cutting edge technology solutions. You will negotiate a very diverse range of complex software and professional services agreements relating to our Health Care Business Division. This role gives the option to work from home on occasion.

 

Main focus of the role:

• Act as senior lead negotiator for the company supporting Nuance’s Health Care Business Division in Europe/Middle East/Africa in direct interaction with customers’ procurement departments to ensure that negotiations are conducted in an efficient manner to retain maximum value for Nuance and consistency with Nuance’s policies, standards and precedent;
• Review and draft technology agreements using concise, “plain English” language to rapidly resolve contract issues in a manner that is reasonable for Nuance and the customer;
• Lead rapid framing of negotiation strategies, working with sales departments, finance department and senior management, and drive internal approvals;
• Occasional (but not frequent) travel will be required.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Fully qualified attorney
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience (although all candidates with relevant skills are invited to apply);
  • Strong experience of working closely with sales teams;
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and able to manage multiple contract requests/deals in parallel and cope with tight deadlines;
  • High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness, as well as excellent negotiation skills;
  • Solution oriented, proactive, flexible and able to turn contract requests around quickly;
  • Team player with flexible, pragmatic approach and “deal closing” ability;
  • Strong cultural awareness of working with international customers and colleagues;
  • Negotiating experience with big players in the Health Care sector, especially with NHS in England, is desirable;
  • Experience working as an in-house lawyer in the IT sector is desirable.
