Job Summary

The Principal Software Engineer works with a team of developers, QA and documentation staff in the development of the next generation of Dragon speech recognition products.  The candidate will be a self-starter and will work on multiple deliverables with dynamic schedules.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve Dragon integration with Nuance cloud services
  • Design and implement Dragon speech recognition integrations with new desktop applications
  • Design and prototype new products using Nuance AI offerings
  • Design and integrate speech enabling technology into Windows Store apps
  • Prototype new user interfaces to create innovative, simplified speech recognition experiences
  • Work with Dragon Research Scientists to integrate new research deliverables into future Dragon products

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience developing commercial Windows applications
  • Strong C#, .NET and ASP.NET experience
  • Solid JavaScript skills
  • Solid skills with RESTful web services
  • Experience with SQL Server
  • Experience with Azure cloud deployments
  • Scripting skills with Python, Perl or similar
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of accessibility APIs (UIAutomation)
  • Knowledge of C++, COM and ATL
  • Familiarity with WPF or UWP
  • Solid skills with RESTful web services
  • Experience with Agile Scrum


  • BS in computer science or related discipline; MS preferred
