Job Summary

The Nuance Document Imaging (NDI) Professional Services (PS) team provides post-sales, fee-for-service consulting and implementation services that focus on Analysis, Design, Build, and Rollout of software solutions in our Multi-Function Peripheral (MFP) business.

The Sr. Manager of Business Development will report to the Sr. Director of NDI Professional Services and focus their attention on liaising with the NDI regional product sales managers, their technical pre-sales consultants and our partners and customers to position professional services engagements, develop a healthy pipeline of professional services opportunities and bring opportunities to a successful close.

The successful candidate will proactively work with the sales team to develop professional services opportunities, provide formal level-of-effort estimates, develop formal Statements of Work (SOWs) and provide a hand-off to the delivery team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and position professional services statements of work and drive professional services sales
  • Attain quarterly PS bookings targets
  • Develop relationships with product sales teams and channel partners throughout the US and Canada
  • Assist in the development of new services offerings based on market needs and demands
  • Liaise with the professional services delivery teams and establish a closed-loop feedback relationship to ensure that projects are scoped and sold accurately.
  • Diligently monitor budgets, sales in progress, pipeline activity, and new prospects/opportunities using pipe-line sales cycle management techniques.
  • Oversee the ongoing record maintenance of full sales opportunities and activities in Nuance’s forecasting and contracts management system.
  • Travel (US and Canada): Up to 70% of the time to visit customers and partners

Number of Years of Work Experience: 8-10 Years

 

Required Skills: 

  • Effective in building relationships with senior technical, functional and business leaders internally, and with customers and partners.
  • Ability to understand and apply the Nuance sales methodology and operational tracking and forecasting of opportunities
  • Experience with software implementation lifecycle methodologies (such as ITIL or similar frameworks)
  • Experience in selling to or delivering software professional services to Fortune 500 customers and engage with such customers at the C-level.
  • Effective in overcoming sales objections
  • Ability to accurately estimate and scope professional services projects.
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in managing a team of PS consultants or other highly technical individual contributors
  • Advanced project management skills or PMP (or similar) certification

Education:

  • Required: Completed 4-year degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or business administration.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in selling or delivering professional services in the software industry strongly preferred
